Objective The survey is part of the French EXTRAPLAC programme for legal continental shelf extension. Operations took place on two study zones: the Crozet shelf and Prince Edward islands (South Africa) and on the Kerguelen shelf. The cruise aimed to acquire the bathymetric and geophysical data needed to draw up the claims file for extension of the legal continental shelf: geological structures were studied and the foot of the slope determined. For the Kerguelen zone, the cruise carries on from studies done during the MD137/Kergueplac1 survey (2004).
