Objective The ENVAR1 cruise was the first of a series aiming to understand the activity of the submarine canyon in the Var and its influence on benthic ecosystems in and near the canyon. The cruise falls under the following programmes: Theme 5/ Programme 2/ benthic ecosystem project and Theme 5/ Programme 2/submarine valley project.
