Summary of measurements |
- -Trials to catch live hake with two different trawls and fish well: The GOC72 trawl is easier to deploy and enables more operations, but has a smaller vertical opening and sweeps less of the surface.
-Ascending speed test. The speed must not exceed 0.8kn for a propeller pitch of 33 while coming back up. -Length of trawl time test: The duration of the trawl haul must not exceed 20 min and depends on the depth. -Capturing live hake: Out of 704 hake caught, 119 were dead and 63 too small to be tagged. So 74% of individuals were tagged out of the entire catch. -External and internal tagging of live hake: Only fish of 15 cm or more in size were tagged, because the available external tags could not be used on smaller ones. -Live fish were put back into the water using a fish lift: The objective was to release at least 500 tagged fish. 522 were tagged and 485 were released.
