Objective To meet the programme's objectives, the EGEE cruises acquired hydrological and currentmeter measurements in the upper layers of the ocean and meteorological data, as well as maintaining PIRATA's network of ATLAS buoys also needed for studies on air-sea exchanges in the Gulf of Guinea. They will also let us check whether the measurements obtained with the Sao Tomé weather station deployed in the framework of the programme are indeed representative of the surrounding ocean conditions as well as helping validate satellite measurements in this particular region. EGEE 2 is the programme's 2nd cruise. The first, EGEE 1, took place in June 2005. The related programme is AMMA - African monsoon multidisciplinary analysis.
