Objective | The CALIMERO technological research programme conducted in partnership with the SHOM, proposed an intercomparison of data obtained by a wide rage of sonar and seismic sensors available to IFREMER and SHOM for three zones of the Gulf of Lion which have been well studied by the geoscience community. Following the Beautemps-Beaupré's first cruise in September 2004, the CALIMERO 2 survey took place from 19 April to 9 May aboard Le Suroît. On the first leg (X. Lurton) data were acquired using the EM300 multibeam echosounder, the sediment sounder and HR 2-D seismics. The second leg (Y. Thomas) was devoted to an HR3-D seismic survey around a recent Promess drilling site. Data collected and supplemented by already available geological data provide a very rich dataset. The objective is to perfect new methodologies to jointly exploit multisensor data for cartography and characterization of seabeds.
