Objective | These are monthly cruises (from 3 to 5 days per month) on the mooring site, with the three-fold objective of (1) checking the buoy's operability and the good condition of the mooring, (2) replacing the radiometers used on the mooring by a set of clean and calibrated radiometers (a vital operation to ensure data quality), and(3) making a series of complementary measurements, needed either to interpret the continuous measurements taken by the mooring or to acquire additional parameters need for marine optical studies. These additional measurements include: CTD profiles, HPLC pigments, specific absorption of phytoplankton and particles, descending and ascending underwater light profiles, inherent optical property profiles, atmospheric measurements (aerosols), reflectance measurements above the surface, using fluorimeter to grid the area. The BOUSSOLE site (43 deg 22'N, 7 deg 54'E) is close to the DYFAMED site. It is located in the zone declared to the Maritime authorities as an area of scientific studies and moored scientific instruments (on sea charts). |
