Objective | The general objective is to study the ocean's responses to changes in the environment induced by human activity. This mainly involves observing and predicting changes in a biogeochemical cycle of carbon and its associated elements in order to determine the ocean's response to the increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations in the atmosphere and to other sensitive elements like some trace metals. Means used: Carrying out time series of monthly monitoring of hydrological and biogeochemical variables on an observation site (DYFAMED). The site is located in the central part of the Ligurian Sea. The reference point is located at 123 of Cap Ferrat, 28 nautical miles away from this cape (ie, precisely at 43 deg 25,400' N and 07 deg 51,800' E). A study zone was defined with the maritime prefecture of Toulon for all the studies: monthly series, moorings, buoys with instruments. The dates of days at sea (monthly cruises of an average of 3 days/month) were: 25 to 27 January, 25 to 27 February, 28 to 30 March, 24 to 27 April, 28 May to 02 June, 24 to 26 June, 28 to 30 July, 29 to 31 August, 18 to 20 September, 26 to 28 October, 25 to 27 November and 13 to 15 December. |
