Objectif

La campagne Biospeedo avait pour objectif l'étude de la distribution de la biodiversité et de la géodiversité hydrothermales à grande échelle le long d'un gradient latitudinal compris entre 7°25S et 21°33S en analysant tous les compartiments faunistiques du peuplement (microbien, protiste, parasite, petite macrofaune et faune symbiotique), les fluides et la composition minéralogique des cheminées. À cet objectif principal se greffe plusieurs objectifs secondaires plus ciblés portant sur la caractérisation fine des conditions physico-chimiques des peuplements hydrothermaux et sur l'étude du fonctionnement symbiotique ou de la réponse au stress thermochimique d'espèces cibles telles que le vestimentifère Riftia pachyptila, le bivalve Bathymodiolus thermophilus, les polychètes Alvinellidae ou la polychète errante Hesiolyra bergi.
Le projet de rattachement est GDR Ecchis.
