Summary of measurements |
- -Acoustic exploration using 4 frequencies (12, 38, 49 and 120 kHz) to study the horizontal and vertical distribution of fish and establish abundance indices for the fished pelagic species (target species were sardine & anchovy).
-Pelagic trawling to identify echoes and biological samples taken on adult fish. -Bottom trawling to identify echoes and biological samples taken on adult fish. -Continuous pumping at the surface using the CUFES system to count fish eggs. -Vertical plankton fishing (PAIROVET) to calibrate fish egg distribution over the entire water column and CUFES surface counts. -The continuously pumped water was analyzed to measure nutrients: nitrates, nitrites, ammonium, silicates (samples frozen on board for later analysis) and phosphates were analyzed on board. -Chlorophyll A and pheopigments were measured on board using filtration and the qualitative composition of plankton communities and size structures were analyzed for phytoplankton, microzooplankton and zooplankton). -Light penetration and natural fluorescence profiles (PNF300), reflectance and suspended matter measured. -Temperature, salinity and fluorimetry profiling of frozen samples and current measured using ADCP. -Plankton caught using triple WP2 net (200 micron) to analyze the communities and carbon, nitrogen, lipids and proteins in zooplankton were measured.
