Objectif La campagne MD 134 / PICABIA (PALEOCLIMATOLOGIE IMAGES CALYPSO SUR LA BORDURE IBERIQUE ET AFRICAINE) a différents objectifs. Reconstituer la variabilité climatique sur plusieurs cycles climatiques (glaciaires interglaciaires) à différentes échelles de temps dans le domaine Nord-Est Atlantique. Evolution climatique en domaine tropical en liaison avec les transports éoliens et le système d'Upwelling. Changement dans les précipitations et les décharges collatérales des Grands fleuves d'Afrique Centrale. Documenter les écoulements gravitaires au large du Portugal liés aux séismes types tremblement de Terre de Lisbonne et d'en déterminer la cyclicité. Les programmes de rattachement sont IMAGES, PAGES, PNEDC, ECLIPSE; ESF-Euromargin, INTIMATE. Les zones géographiques traversées sont : A1O ATLANTIQUE N E (LIMITE 40 W), C10 ATLANTIQUE EQUATORIAL (10N-10S), C14 GOLFE DE GUINEE et C20 ATLANTIQUE S E (LIMITE 20 W).
