Objective	This cruise aimed to complement observations made during the 8 previous DIAPALIS cruises, in order to meet the following objectives: Describe the distribution of Trichodesmium over time and space in the region. Determining the respective roles played by iron and phosphorus in primary production and the diazotrophy of Trichodesmium and other diaotrophic cyanobacteria. Quantify the diazotrophy in various situations, determine which organisms cause it and estimate its impact on the environment. Finally, take marine optical measurements to assess diazotrophic cyanobacteria abundance from water color satellite images. Eight set points were occupied for about 15 hours each in the Caledonian archipelago: 1) In the middle of the Loyalty islands channel (21°30'S; 167°00'E) 2) in the bay of Santal at Lifou (20°51'S; 167°04'E) 3) north of Ouvea (20°00'S ; 166°23'E) 4) north-east of Lifou (20°48'S; 167°36'E)- 5) in the lagoon at Ouinné (21°57'S; 166°45'E) - 6) in the western lagoon south of the Amédée lighthouse (22°32'S; 166°29'S) 7) offshore south-west of Noumea (22°34'S; 166°06'E) 8) in the western lagoon of the bay of Sainte-Marie (22°18'S; 166°28'E). The related programs are: a) IRD program: DIAPAZON (UR Cyano and Lodyc), DME department and b) INSU program: National PROOF program (JGOFS-France).
