Objective The coastal benthic monitoring network's strategy, defined in the REBENT program, planned to set up long-term monitoring of biodiversity in biocenoses located in reference sectors along the coast. The operational launching of the network on the Breton coast(pilot project before extending it to the entire coast of metropolitan France) took place during the year 2003. The REBENT 2 survey reviewed the first three sectors explored in morpho-sedimentary terms in March 2003 (Mission Rebent1), i.e., the bays of Quiberon and Concarneau and the outskirts of the Glénan archipelago, with the following objectives: (1) Biological characterization of the morpho-sedimentary units previously identified using acoustic methods (validated by sediment samples and video survey). Complementary techniques and tools were deployed to this end (Hamon and Shipeck grab samples, video survey on a lowered frame (rough bottoms) and on sled (soft bottoms with no obstacles). (2) Acquisition of the initial data from annual monitoring of marl biocenosis biodiversity, selected for station-based monitoring in the network. Here, the Smith MacIntyre grab was used. The sectors explored had the following geographic boundaries: Concarneau North: 47 deg 52'00" - South: 47 deg 46'48'' West: 004 deg 01'20''East: 003 deg 52'40'' - Glénan North: 47 deg 45'00'' - South: 47 deg 40'37'' West: 004 deg 05'40'' East: 003 deg 54'41'' - Quiberon North: 47 deg 32'30'' South: 47 deg 27'37'' West: 003 deg 06'35'' East: 003 deg 01'00''.
