Objective The HR3D project carried out jointly with TMSI, DNIS, DRO/GM and GENAVIR developed a high resolution 3D seismic acquisition device which can be operated aboard Suroît-type research vessels. The main application of this sort of device is high resolution 3D imaging of geological structures on the continental shelf and the slope (targets from 25 to 50 m², water depths from 100 to 2,000 m, sediment penetration of several hundred meters, metric vertical resolution). The ESSHR3D cruise meets the scientific requirements of being able to take surveys and measurements using a high frequency source aboard smaller vessels. The device chosen will be made up of a 600 meter long seismic streamer operated jointly with two Sparker type sources working in flip-flop mode. This falls under the HR3D project.
