Objectif EVHOE est une campagne pluriannuelle dont les objectifs sont : 1) La constitution de séries temporelles d'indices d'abondance des principales espèces démersales et benthiques de la mer Celtique et du golfe de Gascogne. 2) Mesure de l'évolution inter-annuelle de leurs recrutements. 3) Cartographie des distributions spatiales des espèces et leurs variations inter-annuelles ainsi que la recherche de l'origine de cette variabilité (paramètres biotiques et/ou abiotiques, impact de la pêche). 4) Dans le cadre du défi " golfe de Gascogne ", les données recueillies sont d'une importance essentielle pour l'appréhension des évolutions des communautés faunistiques. La campagne de chalutages de fond diurnes standardisés couvre les zones géographiques suivantes : golfe de Gascogne, mer Celtique, Canal de Bristol et sud du Canal St Georges des isobathes -15 m à - 600 m. 5) L'amélioration des connaissances de la faune bathypélagique est réalisée par des chalutages pélagiques nocturnes au dessus des fonds supérieurs à - 2000 m. Les projets de rattachement sont Evaluation des pêcheries, Ecosystèmes halieutiques, SIH.
