Objective The objective was to make a complete spatial cartography of biogeochemical characteristics of sediment in the Gulf of Fos, based on a network of 70 stations. The scheduled cruise followed on from the SEDIFOS operation in 1991. The cruise was to: establish spatial distribution of classic parameters like organic matter (organic nitrogen and carbon) in the sediment layer and the spatial distribution of porosity and its vertical variability at each point. Nutrients contained in interstitial waters in sediments on some (17) targeted stations were mapped. This falls under the European 5PCRD-OAERRE (ELOISE) programme.
