Objective | Description of the pelagic environment in Mont Saint-Michel bay: Time and space series coverage by 24 hour cycles. The main objective was to quantify and map populations of mollusk larvae (bivalves and crepidula) which are particularly well represented in the bay and concurrently measure the quantities of food (phytoplankton) available for these filter-feeders. The second target group was the polychaete worm Sabellaria alveolata, whose adult populations form honeycomb reefs that are characteristic of the lower foreshores in the bay and of ecological heritage value. This falls under the national coastal ecology programme (PNEC-bay of Mont Saint-Michel - 1st year). |
