Objective Study of mesopelagic ichthyofauna and teuthofauna on the Kerguelen Saint-Paul leg, crossing successive hydrological fronts (Antarctic polar front, sub-Antarctic front and the subtropical one) at depths (0 to 400 m) and at standardized times to avoid having to take nycthemeral migrations of species into account. Species abundance and comparison with the Antarctic polar front zone studied in a three-year programme (ICHTYOKER 1998-2000). A programme to study predator-prey interactions in the austral zone. The predatory species were penguins and sea lions and the prey species were lantern fish from the Myctophidae family and squid. Specific identification of calcified (fish otoliths) and corneous (squid beaks) structures. The related programme is ICHTYOKER (IFRTP 1998-2000 at Kerguelen).
