Objective | This cruise, linked to the REMORA (1 and 2) cruises in 2001 estimated inventories of various markers (artificial and natural radionuclides, etc.) present in marine sediments marins located all over the Gulf of Lion. They were compared with those obtained 1990-91 for the area influenced by the Rhone and those obtained in 1994 for the entire area. The inputs of the Rhone, Herault and Tet river basins, which are the three main anthroposystems connected to the study area were to be emphasized. The core samples also provided finer study on sedimentary accumulation, speciation of radionuclides and seasonal variations (pollen) in this zone and better understanding of the effects of flooding from the various rivers and especially the Rhone. Flume studies will specify the physical processes of resuspension and quantification of desorption processes of the markers associated with the particles. The related projects are ORME and REMOTRANS. |
