Objective The GASPROD survey falls under the framework of the PNEC Bay of Biscay programme. It was devoted to assessing benthic processes like nutrient flows at the water-sediment interface and rheological sediment features (seven stations, four of which corresponding to PNEC sites to study benthic and dermersal populations on the great mudflat area), linked to assessments of vertical particulate matter transport and measruement of contaminants in the food web.
