Objectif

Le principal objectif de la campagne HYDRATECH est d'établir une image sédimentaire précise d'une portion du flanc nord du glissement de Storegga, sur la marge Norvégienne. Cette image, obtenue en grande partie à l'aide d'un levé sismique à haute définition 3D, doit mettre en lumière les déformations intra-sédimentaires, les différentes structures d'échappement de fluides, la distribution des BSRs, et les liens éventuels entre ces différents phénomènes. Ces données serviront à mieux comprendre les mécanismes de libération de gaz lors de la dissociation des hydrates de gaz dans une pente continentale qui a été soumise à un réchauffement et les effets d'instabilité de pente qui y sont associés.
Dans le cadre du projet européen Hydratech, qui vise à quantifier les hydrates de gaz dans les sédiments par des méthodes géophysiques, ces données seront couplées à des mesures sur des instruments fond de mer (OBS). Elles fourniront un modèle géométrique qui servira de base à l'inversion des données OBS par tomographie et forme d'onde. En complément du levé sismique 3D haute résolution, des profils sismiques 2D, des profils sondeurs de sédiment Chirp et un levé bathymétrique ont été réalisés. Ils doivent permettre de replacer les observations de la boîte 3D dans son contexte régional.
