Objective

The objective of the clam survey in the Arcachon Bay is to estimate the clam stock within its area distribution and to describe its main characteristics using standardized indicators such as density, abundance and total biomass, juvenile and spawner fraction. The 2021 survey was co-organized with CDPMEM33, with financial support from DLAL FEAMP Arcachon Basin Val de l'Eyre, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the CDPMEM33 and Ifremer. The survey was performed over 3 periods, from May 21 to June 14, 2021. Samples were collected using a Hamon grab, following a spatially balanced stratified random sampling protocol (GRTS - generalized random tessellation stratified). Sampling was carried out at 525 stations spread over an area of 51 km², divided into 16 reference strata usually surveyed and with 5 additional strata.
