Objective

The IOTA2 oceanic cruise is part of the BEST-ALI Master's courses (Biodiversity and Tropical Ecosystems, Aquatic, Coastal and Island Ecosystems courses). The objective is to offer a field training to students of the Master allowing them to acquire a first experience of working at sea on board an Oceanographic Vessel, to implement a sampling strategy, to take and process biological samples and physico-chemical data, to produce data on the oceanic context of Reunion Island in order to enrich the teaching and to have data available for research internships and finally to implement in real situations certain rules of health and safety at work.

The campaign is composed of 4 sets of 3 days each, which allow sampling of different sectors of the island (upstream and downstream in relation to the main current flow) and allow students to actively participate in the sampling work, laboratory work on board and data processing on land.
