Objective

The ROeCAILLE campaigns are in support of the ROEC project, which is a Breton initiative to set up a continuous high frequency observation network of the coastal environment, based on an integrated multidisciplinary approach (physics, biology and chemistry). As part of the "turbidity" component of this project, seven bottom stations (turbidimetry and point current meter) were anchored by Shom in various areas of interest, potentially impacted by human activities.

The objectives of the ROeCAILLE campaigns are to:

  1.     Calibrate the sensors of 4 benthic cages of the ROEC network (Concarneau, Celtic Sea, Grande Vasière, Morgat) in terms of suspended matter,
  2.     Quantify the vertical profiles of TSS in the water column at these stations,
  3.     Test low-cost measurement systems for sediment dynamics,
  4.     Complete the database of sediment dynamics in the South Brittany area for model validation purposes.
