Objective

The Marhalio 19 - Morbihan campaign is part of the Life Marha project coordinated by the Office Français pour la Biodiversité (OFB), and more specifically the `Spatial approach to characterising the conservation status of eelgrass beds' component, which aims to gain a better understanding of the dynamics of eelgrass beds, their variability and their response to local and/or global pressures.
In this context, the aim of the campaign was to update the map of the distribution of subtidal Zostera marina meadows in the Natura 2000 site `Golfe du Morbihan, côte Ouest de Rhuys', in particular by determining their lower limit. To do this, we combined an acoustic survey (interferometric sonar and single-beam echosounder) with validation observations using underwater video.
The results obtained will be combined with optical imagery data (hyperspectral imagery, satellite imagery) acquired as part of the Life Marha project and will be used to update the mapping of eelgrass beds throughout the area.
