The objective of NURSE 2019 is to collect data that will help monitor and understand how coastal zone nurseries function, since these habitats are vital for recruitment of juveniles of several species important to fisheries. Therefore, it involves continuing the standardized sampling of benthic and demersal populations (both commercial and non-commercial species) begun in the 1980s, in order to develop quality indicators for nursery habitats and good environmental status indicators for coastal populations.
