Objective

The aim of this cruise was to carry out technological trials in order to test at-sea measurement instruments required for the laboratory's research activities. These instruments were intended to be deployed in operational mode at a later date to help solve problems related to the reconstruction of large-scale and  fine-scale ocean circulation. We wanted to test 4 instruments :

  • MicroriYo : yoyo mooring equipped with a MicroRider, an instrument equipped with microstructure sensors : the MicroRiYo allows  to obtain repeated turbulence profiles over long time scales;
  • COGNAC (Mesure de la Circulation Océanique par Géolocalisation ACoustique): testing of a float and an acoustic source;
  • Tri-head float: ARGO profiler equipped with 3 CTD sensors (1 concerto RBR sensor, 1 SBE41 sensor, 1 SBE61 sensor). The aim here was to compare the results of the different sensors.
  •  FLAME_LITE (Flux Air/Mer par Eddy correlation Light): wave buoys for measuring air/sea flows. The aim here was to qualify communication systems, sensor synchronization, data quality and associated processing algorithms.
