Objective

This cruise aimed to highlight the impact of eustatic crises occurring between the Upper Miocene and the Middle Pliocene-Pleistocene (6 Ma to 0.5 Ma) on the continental margin of the gulf of Lion (from shelf to slope). These "crises" concern the Messinian event (drop in sea level of over 1,500 m) on the one hand and the Middle Pliocene-Pleistocene "crises" on the other (installation significant increase in ice caps of the Northern hemisphere (3-2.5 Ma), cycles going from 40 to 100 ka with change in amplitude (around 650-900 ka) in particular). The data collected will also be used for the IODP «GOLD» drilling proposal. The related projects are Action-Marges, TERMEX, LABEX Mer.
