Objective

The two MALIS cruises support the ANR MANA project (Management of Atolls).

MALIS 1 cruise (5 days on site), August 2018: Recovery and installation of oceanographic instruments (ADCP, pressure and temperature sensors) in the lagoon, in the pass, and on the outer slope of the Raroia atoll. Multi-beam sensor bathymetric survey on the outer slope of Raroia Atoll, and its neighbor to the north Takume. The map below shows the instrumented sites before and after MALIS 1.

MALIS 2 cruise (19 days on site), November-December 2018: Recovery and installation of oceanographic instruments (ADCP, pressure and temperature sensors) in the lagoon, dan sla pass and on the outerl slope of the Raroia atoll. Estimation of the wild stock of pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera by scuba diving. Study of the hydrobiological properties of the Raroia lagoon, its rim and the near ocean (CTD measurement, plantonic biomass, nutrients, production).
