Objective

The goals of the SEDYMAQ program was to evaluate at multi-annual scale, the impact of hydrodynamics on the evolution (1) of the superficail sedimentary cover of the Aquitaine shelf and (2) the morphology of the head and the proximal part of the Capbreton submarine-canyon.

The specific goals of the SEDYMAQ 4 survey was (1) to decifer the amazing modern morpho-sedimentary "dynamic balance" state of the proximal part of the Capbreton submarine-canyon, (2)  to look for the former Adour river and canyon head connexions on the shelf, especially during the last quaternary sea level drops.

An EM2040 multibeam datatset was acquired on the head and proximal part of the Capbreton submarine-canyon (up to 300m depth). A Sparker seismic reflexion data grid was acquired on the inner shelf north of the Capbreton Canyon.
