Summary of measurements |
- -Acoustic prospecting with fisheries (Simrad EK60 18 and 38 kHz) and hull-mounted broadband (Simrad EK80, 70, 120, 200, 333 kHz) echosounders to study scattering plankton and micronekton layers in the Northern Bay of Biscay.
-Testing a vertical profiler equipped with a broadband echosounder (Simrad EK80 WBTUBE, 120, 200, 333 kHz), to characterise abundance, size and type of organisms from mesozooplankton and micronekton using the acoustic target indicator. -The WBTUBE was successfully operated using the Fleet's shared mobile winch. -Fishing with WP2, MIK and multinet nets to characterise the composition of sound scattering layers; Processing samples using imaging (Zoocam, mesozooplankton) and visual sorting (micronekton). -Testing the Bioness multiple net sampler (from shared fleet equipment). -Video profiles on WBTUBE, Bioness and CTD to characterise the mesozooplankton and micronekton organisms using video. -Fishing with open pelagic trawl (ENROL) with a stereo-video camera and lasers to identify and count pelagic nekton (fish, micronekton). -CTD stations and continuous hull-mounted temperature-salinity-fluorimetry measurements to describe abiotic environment and primary production.
