Objective | This is part of the general international PIRATA programme. As the 27th French cruise of this type, it is called PIRATA-FR27. The cruise initially aimed to: 1) replace 6 Pirata met-ocean buoys located in the Gulf of Guinea, of which 3 ATLAS, 2 new T-FLEX systems and 1 ATLAS buoy replaced by a T-FLEX; 2) deploy an ADCP current meter mooring at 10°W-0°N; 3) replace a CO2 sensor on the buoy at 6°S-10°W and add a CO2 sensor to the new T-FLEX buoy at 8°E-6°S; 4) perform CTD-O2/LADCP hydrology legs (23°W, 10°W, 0°E, 6°S); 5) deploy 21 SVP-B drifting buoys; 6) deploy 8 ARVOR profiling floats, 6 of them with dual programming; 7) take seawater samples for analyses (S, O2, CO2, nutrients, pigments); 8) take heat profiles with XBT probes. And, in addition to PIRATA's usual and recurrent tasks: 9) replace 10 'Chipods' turbulence sensors on 2 ATLAS buoys (5 at 23W and 5 at 10W, on the Equator); 10) replace OTN acoustic receivers on all the ATLAS buoys; 11) take continuous acoustic measurements (vertical and lateral); 12) profiles (0-200m) to take plankton samples with a Bongo net. The related project is SNO PIRATA (SOERE CTDO2). |
