Objective The CANHROV cruise follows on from the 4 ESSHROV cruises which enabled the HROV system's technical validation. The objectives of the cruise were: 1) Finalizing the technical trials of the HROV, in particular validating the maximum dive depth (2,500 m) and reversible regulator; 2) Validating the HROV's capabilities in shallow water and on steeply sloping seabeds; 3) Validating payloads for exploration & sampling, in particular 5- and 7-function remote manipulation, sampling tools and the digital camera; 4) Validating dive monitoring from the scientific control post; 5) Validating the archiving and processing of data from dives.
