Objective There are two complementary parts to the cruise: regional action for ecological monitoring of the Blayais site (coord. by Ifremer), and national action called Service d'Observation en Milieu LITtoral (SOMLlT via RNSM, INSU). The ecological monitoring of the Blayais site consists in three stations sampled eight times over the year (one station directly off the power plant, one downstream and one upstream). These stations are shared with SOMLIT. It federates the marine stations at Wimereux, Roscoff, Brest, Arcachon, Banyuls, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Marseilles, with the aim of better understanding coastal ecosystems, and particularly anthropogenic or climate impacts. Studying annual and interannual variability -which is one of the main objectives of the observation service- requires taking samples throughout the year (impact of winter floods on the hydro-sedimentology and the biological cycle of zooplankton species). SOMLIT is based on a coherent network of measurement points to sample neritic and estuarine waters. At each SOMLIT-Blayais mission, 10 times a year, samples are taken at 3 or 4 stations at a set point during a tidal cycle at neap tide. Samples were taken approximately three hours apart (1 HW, 2 half-tide, 1 LW) and at two levels (1 m below the surface and 1 m above the seabed). In-situ measurements and sampling: depth, TO, salinity, dissolved oxygen, pH, current speed and direction; Samples of water and of zooplankton. -Grab samples of macrobenthos. Measurements in laboratory: Winkler, suspended matter, nutrients, COP, chlorophyll a, zooplankton and macrobenthos counts, bacteriology.
