Objective | The main objective of SOMBA-GE-2016 is to continue the hydrological time series started with SOMBE-GE-2014 in the Algerian basin to acquire the essential oceanic variables with vertical profiles (CTD, oxygen, fluorescence, turbidity, currents) and bottles samples (nutrients, inorganic carbon, pigments) over an array of surface-bottom stations. This long-term information is essential for all of the scientific projects and models developed in the framework of MERMEX or other national and international programmes. However, due to extremely bad weather conditions over all the Western Basin, this cruise are been moved to the Tyrrhenian basin South-East of Corsica where some hydrological stations have been performed across the gyre know to be present in this region in winter time. |
