Objectif Le projet EVHOE est un projet à long terme et ses objectifs principaux ne varient pas d'une année sur l'autre. Rappelons cependant que les campagnes EVHOE se rattachent au Système d'Informations Halieutiques et qu'elles permettent de : 1) Constituer des séries temporelles d'indices d'abondance pour les principales espèces de la mer Celtique et du Golfe de Gascogne utilisables dans l'évaluation des stocks et permettant notamment une mesure de l'évolution interannuelle de leurs recrutements; 2) Evaluer l'impact de la pêche sur les peuplements et fournir des éléments pour l'approche écosystémique de la gestion de l'activité halieutique (paramètres biotiques et/ou abiotiques, impact de la pêche).
