Objective | This is part of the general international PIRATA programme. Since it is the 26th French cruise of this type, it is called PIRATA-FR26. The objectives of the cruise were initially: to replace 6 Pirata ATLAS buoys located in the Gulf of Guinea, 2 of which were replaced by new T-FLEX systems; deploy an ADCP current meter mooring at 0°E-0°N, replace the CO2 sensor on the buoy at 6°S-10°W,;perform 2 hydrological legs with CTD-O2/LADCP (23°W, 10°W, 0°E, 6°S); deploy 15 drifting SVP-B buoys; deploy 6 Arvor profiling floats, 3 of them with dual programming, take seawater samples to analyze S, O2, CO2, nutrients and pigments and perform heat profiles with XBT probes. Also, in addition to routine and recurrent PIRATA tasks: Replacing 10 Chipods turbulence sensors on 2 ATLAS buoys (5 to 23W and 5 to 10W, on the Equator); Replacing OTN acoustic receivers on all the ATLAS buoys. Continuous acoustic measurements (vertical and lateral); Profiles to sample plankton (0-200m) with a Bongo net. The related project is SO PIRATA (SOERE CTDO2). |
