Objective | CHIRP acquisition in shallow zones (mudflats in the bay of Brest). Studying the sedimentary infilling of shallow areas in the Bay of Brest is part of a larger project to characterize sedimentary fluxes at different time scales from catchment basins to the Iroise Sea. The aim of this mission is to collect high resolution seismic data using the RV Haliotis launch's Chirp, at depths between 12 and 1 m. The results of this cruise should enable us to: 1) Record imagery of the various sedimentary facies from the last transgressive phase thanks to the study which can be conducted on the sedimentary tracts in the channels; 2) Understand how sedimentary infilling of coves and embayments in the Bay of Brest took place on the secular scale by calibrating the seismic data with the cores taken in 2014 during SERABEQ1; 3) Obtain a high resolution image of the internal structure of the sedimentary bodies covering the seabed in Brest bay and at the outlet of the Narrows in order to specify the mechanisms behind their formation (tidal and/or wave action); 4) Compare them with the data sets. |
