Objective

The scientific objectives of the AMOR-BFLUX cruise were:

  • Study the carbonate system (pH, TA, DIC) at the sediment-water interface (bottom water and pore water)
  • Measure the exchange fluxes between sediment and water for dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) and alkalinity.
  • Study the effects of benthic recycling on the chemistry of carbonates in sediments and determine the buffer role of carbonates with regards to the bacterial production of CO2,
  • Complete the in situ measurement series on the recycling of organic matter in the sediments of the Rhône prodelta,
  • Understand the effect of aerobic and anaerobic mineralization processes of organic matter in sediments

Main results
