Objectif

Le projet OUTPACE s'articule autour de 3 objectifs principaux et permet la collaboration de chercheurs ayant des spécialités allant de l'optique marine à la modélisation. Le but du projet est d'obtenir une meilleure représentation des interactions entre les organismes planctoniques et les cycles des éléments biogènes pour des échelles allant de l'étude de processus à l'étude de l'océan Pacifique sud-ouest. Les principaux objectifs de cette recherche sont : 1. Donner une description zonale de la biogéochimie et de la diversité biologique dans le Pacifique sud-ouest en période de stratification maximale (été austral). 2. Etudier dans 3 environnements oligotrophes contrastés la production et le devenir de la matière organique et particulièrement la fraction de la production soutenue par les organismes diazotrophes. 3. Obtenir une représentation satisfaisante des principaux flux biogéochimiques et de la dynamique du réseau trophique planctonique, in situ et pour des expériences en microcosmes. Les projets de rattachement sont ANR OUTPACE, LEFE CyBER, IRD (Action sud), CNES, GOPS.
