Objective | The general objective is to study the ocean's responses to changes in the environment induced by human activity. This mainly involved observing and predicting changes in a biogeochemical cycle of carbon and its associated elements in order to determine the ocean's response to the increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations in the atmosphere and to other sensitive elements like some trace metals. Means used: Carrying out time series of monthly monitoring of hydrological and biogeochemical variables on an observation site (DYFAMED). INSU DYFAMED observation service, head scientist, J.C. MARTY, CNRS, BP 08, 06238 Villefranche sur mer. The INSU's observation service brings together several teams from the oceanographic laboratory of Villefranche (Observatoire Océanologique de Villefranche) and the AIEA marine environment laboratory in Monaco. Days at sea (monthly cruises of an average of 3 days/month) were 22 January, 19-20 February, 28-29 March, 26-27 April, 20-23 May, 28-29 June, 28-30 July, 28-29 August, 30 September, 30-31 October, 30 November and 11 December. The site is located in the central part of the Ligurian Sea. The reference point was located at 123 of Cap Ferrat, 28 nautical miles away from this cape (ie, precisely at 43 deg 25,400' N and 07 deg 51,800' E). The study zone was defined in collaboration with the maritime prefecture of Toulon for all studies: monthly series, moorings, buoys with instruments. |
