Objective Describing the distribution, determining density and if possible the relative abundance of cetaceans on the Antarctic continental shelf off Adelie Land. Linking this information to the biotic parameters collected by other scientific teams. Photographic and/or genetic identification of four target species (humpback whale, blue whale, southern right whale and killer whale) to document the stocks present is also sought. Testing the feasibility of deploying a light craft from RV Astrolabe. This falls under the IPEV 1014 CETA programme: Observation of cetaceans in Adelie Land.
