Objective 1. Monitoring the benthos at 5 different portions of the landfall cable, using high resolution photo imaging performed on dives (depth < 25 m): - 3 stations (A, B and C) positioned along the 12 km of cable which are not buried and protected by cast iron shells; these 3 stations have been monitored monthly since the cable was installed in July 2012; - 2 stations (D and E) positioned on 2 of the 120 stabilization structures of the cable (concrete mattress) installed during summer 2013; 2. Biological sampling required for more detailed identification of benthic organisms, currently performed only on the basis of photos or HD video sequence recordings; 3. Installing temperature probes on the cable protection shells, at three stations A, B and C; 4. Underwater noise measured on the tidal stream turbine site: - using a standalone measurement instrument deployed then recovered by divers (after ~3 days of operation); -using drifting hydrophones deployed from the vessel; 5. Electromagnetic field measurements above the tidal turbine site (devices may be present) and above the landfall cable using a towed instrument. Measurements taken at the, for the moment unpowered, cable will provide an electromagnetic baseline state of the zone.
