Objectif

Du 28 octobre au 1er novembre, au cours de la première partie de la campagne (chef de mission Louis Géli), dix stations de géodésie acoustique de Geomar et de de l'UMR « Domaines Océaniques » de l'Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer ont été déployées en fond de mer pour mesurer directement, pour la première fois, le mouvement relatif des plaques, le long de la partie immergée de la Faille Nord anatolienne.

Au cours de la deuxième partie de la campagne (du 2/11 au 13/11, chef de mission Livio Ruffine), le ROV VICTOR-6000 a été mis en oeuvre pour pour comprendre les processus de migration des fluides le long des failles. Au cours de la campagne, 5 plongées ROV ont été effectuées (pour un total de 148.4 heures), permettant d'acquérir de nombreux échantillons (eaux interstitielles, gaz, saumures, pétrole) et de faire des mesures spectroscopiques Raman in situ. Ces mesures sont inédites à l'Ifremer ; au niveau mondial, c'est la deuxième fois que ce type de mesure est effectué, ouvrant la voie à une nouvelle stratégie d'échantillonnage de gaz in situ. Enfin, un détecteur acoustique de bulles et deux sismographes de fond de mer ont été déployés finement avec le ROV, pour étudier le phénomène de dégazage naturel de méthane en fond de mer.

La troisième partie (du 13 au 16 novembre, chef de mission Pierre Henry) avait pour objectif spécifique d'acquérir des carottes de sédiments dans des sites clés pour des études de paléosismicité visant à préciser le taux de récurrence des séismes en  Mer de Marmara.
