Objective The MERCAUX cruise is part of a mission to improve geological knowledge about the French continental shelf in the framework of the RGF (Référentiel Géologique de la France) programme and the Continental shelf project. The main objectives are to: (i) to specify the shape of large (Meso-Cenozoic) geological units present in the northern Bay of Seine and offshore from the Pays de Caux region, (ii) describe in detail the sedimentary geometries within these large units, and (iii) improve the regional structural pattern, in particular with better characterization of the Fecamp fault.
