Objective | The PHYTEC cruise was scheduled in the framework of the "Capteurs, Méthodes et Systèmes" project and the DIALTOX project and was conducted from 21 to 29 June 2013 aboard RV Côtes de la Manche. It also carries on from the PSEUDOMO 1 and 2 (March and September 2010) and PSEUTEC (June 2011) cruises. These three cruises had made it possible to describe the hydrological situation in the Southern Brittany and Iroise zone and draw up distribution maps for various Pseudo-nitzschia species (Siano et al. 2011). The main objective of the PHYTEC cruise was to use new methods to study the hydrological and phytoplankton structures in early summer in Southern Brittany and the Iroise Sea, focusing particularly on detecting and describing the spatial dynamics of species from Pseudo-nitzschia and Dinophysis genera. The broad study zone includes Loire river plumes, the bays of Quiberon and Vilaine, bay of Concarneau and bay of Brest. |
