| Objective | Seasonal and inter-annual monitoring of the heat content, surface salinity, hydrology and circulation between Tasmania and Adelie Land. The programme began in 1992. The dates of crossings between Hobart and Dumont D'Urville for the XBT shooting cruises were as follows (2 rotations): - R1 du 03/12/2013 au 03/01/2014 - R4 du 01/03/2014 au 14/03/2014. The related projects are CLIVAR and TOSCA. Data go to ORE-SSS and LEGOS. SURVOSTRAL provides a large number of Southern Ocean observations for global climatology and analyzing ocean variability. SURVOSTRAL observations are also assimilated into operational ocean models in real time in France (MERCATOR), Australia, Germany and the USA. |
