Objective | Redeploying a hydroacoustic observatory to monitor the seismicity associated with ocean expansion along the three ridges in the Indian Ocean and the deformation of the central Indian basin, as well as the presence and migration of large whales in the Southern Indian Ocean. The observatory is made up of 7 autonomous hydrophones located on 5 sites; 1 antenna of 3 hydrophones 30km apart was installed on 1 of the sites (W-KER). The array was deployed in 2009/2010 and then redeployed in 2011 and 2012. The objective was to redeploy it again for another year (2014). The related project is OHA-SIS-BIO (hydroacoustic observatory of seismicity and biodiversity in the Indian Ocean). |
