Objective | One of the main objectives of the REM 2040 cruises is to investigate the possibilities of calibrating multibeam echosounders. The 1st REM 2040 cruise made on RV Thalia in February enabled EM 2040 to be acquired on baseline zones with various acquisition parameters. This 2nd REM 2040 cruise will make it possible to pursue the calibration phase for the EM 2040. Another REM 2040 aim was to validate the new sub-bottom profiling towfish (SDS) at sea, to be transferred as a replacement for the EDO towfish. The new SDS towfish will be able to perform acquisitions in additional zones to those covered by the Haliotis survey launch (1-20 m) and by ocean-going vessels (reaching over 3,000 in depth). |
