Objective | NURSE 2013 aims to collect data to help monitor and understand the functioning of nurseries, these essential habitats which play a determining role in the recruitment of juveniles in several fish species. There are three parts to the study: Continuing the standardized sampling of benthic and demersal populations (commercial and non-commercial fish and invertebrates) in order to develop quality indicators for nursery habitats and indicators of good ecological status of coastal populations; Thus NURSE13 carries on the series of NURSE inshore cruises which began in the early 1980s; Sampling will gill nets in order to characterize the demersal and pelagic fauna in previously unsampled habitats. This sampling will make it possible to compare catches using set gear (gill net)and those taken with towed gear (beam trawl). The related project is POPEX, run by the Biological resources and environment department. |
