Objective The ambition of the IBANOE project is to develop new tools for monitoring and studying coastal ecosystem function by perfecting new biomarkers based on benthic invertebrates. It involves contributing to the calibration of environmental records in the shells of invertebrates through better knowledge about the day/night calcification cycles (measurements of respiration and calcification in benthic chambers). The cruise objectives were 1) to take samples of invertebrates on sites with contrasting environments (gradients of anthropization), and then in a second phase 2) to deploy benthic chambers and subtidal sensors over 24 h cycles in order to measure the respiration and calcification of several invertebrates (queen scallops and trochus). The related project is EC2CO IBANOE.
